Area Groups

Area, Overseas and Special Interest Groups

The N Gauge Society has regional groups both in the United Kingdom and overseas, specifically in Ireland and Australia. Additionally we have a Worldwide Group, where modelers focus on non-UK railways.

These groups are all about encouraging N gauge modelers and offering practical advice and help, where needed.

Many of these groups have built layouts for use as a group or for exhibitions. If you’re in the process of constructing your own layout then these group layouts are a great way to run your trains till your own layout is ready. Or, if you have a layout that could go on the exhibition circuit then the group may be able to help there, too.

These groups are very welcoming to new members and run open days to show prospective members what the group does. The groups are a great place to get together, chat about model railways (or anything else!), and socialise.

If you find there isn’t an Area Group in your locality then please do contact our Area Groups coordinator to discuss setting up a new group.

United Kingdom Area Groups

Overseas Area Groups

Our overseas groups are based in Ireland and Australia.

In Australia the groups cover the Perth and South East Queensland areas.

Special Interest Groups

Worldwide Area Group

This group is for N Gauge modellers interested in modelling railways outside Great Britain, regardless of era; this includes steam, diesel, and electric traction.

IO Group

This is an online chat group. Whilst not part of the N Gauge Society, the IO Group is home to many of our members. It is open to anybody interested in N Gauge model railways, railroads or trains. But in particular it is aimed at modelers working to the UK scale of 1:148.
