Dear members
I am pleased to report that my message posted on 28th July regarding the resignation of our new Membership Secretary and the effect of this on Membership Services (you may recall I suggested that these services may be suspended for a period of up to one month) appears to have been rather in error.
Thanks to the efforts of a few Committee members and others, we have been able to clear the backlog of orders in the system, both for Membership and Shop sales.
All but one Shop order has been processed and collected by Royal Mail – the one pending is for a member who forgot to include the Postage and Packing supplement to their order.
New Memberships and Renewals have been processed and the Membership List updated accordingly.
Notifications of change of address have also been actioned and the Membership List updated.
There may be a small delay in the sending of Handbooks and Welcome Packs to new members but rest assured your membership will already be active.
Emails to the Membership Secretary continue to be automatically forwarded to the Chairman for action, until we have the member or members in place to take on the Membership and Assistant Membership Secretary role.
We are also looking at ways in which the entire Membership and Shop processes can be improved but, for now at least, what we have in place seems to be working reasonably well.
Those members who may have missed the “E-Journals” 3/25 and 4/25 are kindly asked to message the Membership Secretary’s email for them to be resent.
If members have any queries with regards to any of this then please feel free to email me and I will do my very best to answer them (or ask someone who can !)
Very many thanks for your patience and more importantly, thanks to the team of volunteers who have “stepped up to the plate” at this time.
Best regards
Arthur Frost, Chairman, NGS
