Shipping to the US has resumed!

We are now able to resume shipping to the US, but with some changes to how we apply P&P due to the current administrations recent tariff changes on imports from the UK.  These are as follows:

UK VAT will be paid on checkout, but this is refundable.  In addition to the postage charge, our UK postage partner will then apply the 10% US customs fee and a £0.50 customs admin fee to the postage label charge so that it reaches you without any further customs delays when it arrives in the USA.

The following steps should now be taken for all shop purchases EXCEPT ex Modelmaster transfers:

    1. Select the items you wish to buy as normal and note the total value – please do not include any ex Modelmaster transfers.
    2. Take 10% of this value and add it to the cost of postage (see below)
    3. Add a sundry payment (link below) to your order for the combined amount of postage & customs fee – depending on the amount, you may need to add 2 or 3 sundry payments to reach the total.
    4. Once the sundry payment(s) have been added, checkout as normal.

For orders with a value of <£50 postage & packing will be charged at £13.50 (this includes the Customs admin fee)

For orders with a value > £50, postage & packing will be charged at £16 (this includes the Customs admin fee)

Sundry Payment page can be found here:  https://www.ngsjoin.com/sundry-payment-to-the-society-18-c.asp

Example order for a Hunslet loco

    Order value = £82

    Customs fee = £8.2

    P&P rate = £16

Sundry payment added to order = £16+8.2 = £24.20  (in this example, it will need to be 3 sundry payments of £20, £4 and £0.20)

    UK VAT refund – £16.40

This does not apply to the “Ex Modelmaster Transfers” part of the online shop – these are handled separately and will be subject to a separate announcement soon on how to order them.

We are working in the background to improve our overall shop experience for all members and hope to have more news on this in the near future – in the meantime, for our USA based members, we appreciate your patience with this slightly more onerous method of placing an order.  It does enable you to resume purchases from the shop & take advantage of the current sale that is running until the end of the year and that was important to the committee.
